NY Times: Anita Bryant, Whose Anti-Gay Politics Undid a Singing Career, Is Dead at 84
The former beauty queen and spokeswoman for Florida orange juice was an all-American entertainer before she began crusading against L.G.B.T.Q. rights.
Rebuttal By
Rest in peace, Anita Bryant. Some of youse post-boomers may not know who she was and what she represented, but you should. The once popular singer and former beauty queen from Oklahoma actually died in her home three weeks ago. The family only released the information now. She was 84.
.
Ms. Bryant was 18 when she won the the 1958 Miss Oklahoma beauty title and was then named second runner-up in the Miss America pageant. She turned that success into a lucrative singing and show business career. Clean and Christian, she performed during the halftime show at the Super Bowl in 1971 and sang “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” at the funeral of Lyndon B. Johnson in 1973 -- honors which today are reserved only for untalented whorish filth like Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Madonna or Lady Gaga et al.. My oh my how the world has changed!
.
Most memorably, lovely Anita represented the Florida Citrus Commission in a campaign of TV commercials, in which she sang “Come to the Florida Sunshine Tree.” Her signature tagline was: “Breakfast without orange juice is like a day without sunshine.”
.
But by the late 1970s, Bryant had become the target of nasty comedians and elements of the libtard press. She would eventually end up blacklisted -- losing both her endorsement gigs as well as singing and TV show opportunities. The attacks and mockery so affected her that, she would later reveal, she once contemplated suicide. What was her offense, you ask? Answer: In the days when socially unacceptable LGBT was taking its early baby steps towards the madness which too many now deem as "normal," Ms. Bryant took a very strong and very public stand against the early cancer. Sorry, Anita. Can't have that!
Beautiful, smart, Christian, talented and popular -- the All-American girl (who once sang at the Super Bowl!) threw it all away for a cause greater than herself, and she never regretted it.
.
At a time when homosexuality was still generally kept "in the closet" and strongly disapproved of by the vast majority of Americans, Ms. Bryant and others already sensed the coming trendline and tried to stop it. After referring to homosexuality as “an abomination,” Bryant led a campaign to stop a Dade County (Miami, Florida) ordinance prohibiting "discrimination" against homosexuals. Bryant said: “The ordinance condones immorality and discriminates against my children’s rights to grow up in a healthy, decent community,.".Seeing the pedosexual "writing on the wall," she then founded Save Our Children. Her public image — many called her a “Christian celebrity” — was by that time changed forever. Soon afterwards, a television producer (cough cough) told her that the publicity around her “controversial political activities” meant that she would not be hired for a planned variety-show. A few years later, the Florida Citrus Commission -- under intense pressure from "somebody" -- cancelled her $100,000 per year contract.
In October 1977, at a news conference in Iowa, a nasty poofter walked up to Bryant and smashed a cream pie into her face. The article gives us an indication of what she went through: . "As the cameras rolled and pie filling clung to her cheeks, she began to pray — “We’re praying for him to be delivered from his deviant lifestyle, Father” — then broke down into tears." .“I don’t regret it, because I did the right thing,” Ms. Bryant recalled in a 1990 television interview. “Sometimes you have to pay a price for what you believe is right.”.“I was a sacrificial lamb,” Ms. Bryant said of her vilification in some quarters in an interview for a syndicated newspaper article in 1988. “I didn’t even know it. And I couldn’t get out of it once I’d begun.” . Although the modern Globalist-Marxist LGBT movement was still in its infancy during Bryant's day, the "powers that be" knew exactly where, step by step, they were intending to take us. Having someone of Bryant's cultural popularity trying to "nip it in the bud" was not acceptable. So, they destroyed her and made an example to others. . Rest in peace, beautiful and brave woman. .
